The
right to privacy…to their detriment, Internet
users often overlook this issue.
As a wise man once said, once the people give up a
right, it is almost impossible to get it
back.
Many
people usually respond to this issue with
indifference, feeling as if this is not really
something they need to be concerned about in their
everyday lives. Well, picture this…what if
there was a government agent assigned to you
everywhere you went, and recorded everything you
did? What if every telephone and
person-to-person conversation was recorded and all
your purchases were tracked?
Still doesn’t bother you?
Let’s take it a little further.
Do you think there is anything you do that
could be construed as a violation of the law?
Chances are if someone was being paid to find out
if you slip up and their whole existence was based
on documenting your mistakes, they would make it
their business to continue until they found the
information they needed.
Now
how about this…what if it was a company rather
than a law enforcement agency watching you and
monitoring your buying habits?
And what if in order to make additional
profit, they sold this information to other
companies? Don't
think it happens?
Well, it's happening now, and there is
currently a bill before Congress to stop it.
